DEMO ON SOLAR DRYER

THE Rural Development Or ganisation (RUDO) and Sri Manasa Gangotri Kalanikethan organised a demonstration on domestic solar dryer at Viswam Talent School here today to promote its use.
Explaining the uses of so lar dryer, R Gangi Reddy of RUDO said it could be made using cardboard, black enam-el paint and transparent plas tic sheet.
Describing it as a poor man’s technology, he said this solar dryer costing about Rs 200 could be used to preserve fruits, vegetables, meat and food.
Manasa Gangotri Kalanikethan secretary M Venkatramana, Viswam Tal-ent School director Viswanath Reddy, Saptagiri Grameena, Bank officer Abdul Naseer and others were present.

BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION: Rural Development
Organisation (RUDO)
was established in the year 1983 founded by R.Gangi Reddy. In the year 1984, Oxfam-Bangalore supported the founder to visit the prominent NGO in AP, Karnataka and Tamil Naidu to gain experience to initiate development project. During the year 1984-86 a project entitled “Development through Indigenous Resources” was implemented in association with Dr.Spellman, Prof in Asian Cultures, Windberg University, Canada. Under this project the indigenous agriculture, indigenous health practices and indigenous legal systems were promoted in five villages.
